Signs of Hope & Change: Election Night

"These are two very different holidays with their own very different traditions. But it seems fitting that we mark them both during the same week. For in a larger sense, they are both moments of reflection and renewal. They are both occasions to think more deeply about the obligations we have to ourselves and the obligations we have to one another, no matter who we are, where we come from, or what faith we practice.

Last night President Obama hosted a traditional Seder dinner in the Old Family Dining Room of the White House for a few friends, White House employees and their families. The Passover Sedar is traditionally held on the first or second night of Passover -- the holiday commemorating the Jewish exodus from Egypt after 400 years of slavery. White House aides said they believe it was the first president-hosted Seder at the White House.

On a surprise stop, he tells cheering U.S. troops in Baghdad that it's time for Iraqis to take full control of their country. Meanwhile, another Shiite neighborhood is attacked.
